emily and rose

Emily and Rose both grew up in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. Their paths crossed in 2015 while working at Maple Wind Farm in Huntington, VT. Emily had been farming since college in 2009 when she spent a semester WWOOFing (World Wide Organic Farming) throughout Italy. After graduation she spent three years at North Country School in Lake Placid managing the school’s farm. Rose had never been on a working farm other than to pick apples or pumpkins in the fall and quickly fell in love with the resourcefulness, creativity, and dedication required. After spending fifty hours a week completing chores, trouble-shooting projects, and absorbing Emily’s endless knowledge, Rose had easily fell in love with her as well. Rose and Emily have been a team ever since that first summer and have dedicated their life to creating community around nutritious and delicious food starting a small poultry operation together in 2017. The purchase of Union Brook Farm was the culminating event that allowed Emily and Rose to begin advancing their pursuit of those dreams. 2020 is our first full growing season at the farm and we are very excited to be able to begin to offer more and more fresh, local foods to you and your loved ones.
